A Little Bit About Me
As-salaamo alaikum.

I wasn’t sure if I should start with the cynicism or leave it for later.....

but then decided that I should probably start with the fact that I’ve been married twice previously.

Not ideal, I know. However, I accept that it’s the qadr of Allah for neither marriage to have worked out. I’m not particularly sensitive about talking about it so feel free to ask whatever questions you might have (like the person who asked if I’d been beating my wife.... I hadn’t, obviously).

I think this next paragraph needs to include my love of skydiving, scuba diving and wild goose chasing but that would all be untrue. I’ve tended to stick to the more classical hobbies like “eating out” or “watching movies” or “sports”. That may not be everyone’s cup of tea, I accept.

I work locally as a GP and live with my parents. They are both fully independent, alhamdolillah, but I still want to stay nearby. I have siblings living nearby with their wife/children and think I’m quite family orientated.

Deen-wise, I don’t celebrate milaads or khatams and am looking for similar. I’ve attended multiple Arabic courses but am nowhere near fluent, and I intend to pursue this further in the future too, insha’Allah. Likewise, I attend general Islamic lectures.

What I Am Looking For
Somebody who prays 5 times a day and is keen to continue learning about the deen. For compatibility reasons I’m not looking for people who celebrate milaad or do khatams.

I’m generally looking for somebody who enjoys life and doesn’t take themself too seriously. They don’t need to have the most amazing and eclectic hobbies, just like I don’t either! I’m wary of people who are big on “banter” however- I’ve always found that to be an excuse people use for insulting others so it does make me a bit wary.

I have to admit that I’m not massively career driven and am looking for similar in a spouse. I don’t need to know that you’re planning to resolve global poverty or social inequality, as noble an ambition as that might be- I’ll settle for a nice meal and a good film...

Alhamdolillah I’m currently in a position where my work now allows me to take time to travel and I hope to continue this with a spouse, insha’Allah.

I don’t have any particular preference by way of appearance, nationality or job- I’m actual looking for people who are not doctors as I think the combined workload commitments would be very difficult to manage. Similarly, I’m obviously happy to speak to divorcees.
